here to hear the sounds of sh.
Step 38: sh
Remind that h is
the blowy letter. When you use it with another letter, you still blow ‑
as in sh ch th. We first learn SH, the
sound we make to tell people to hush. Have the pupil say "sh",
with his hand in front of his mouth, so that he can feel the wind of the blow.
Have him say three times, 'ESS‑AITCH says sh". Have him complete the
words listed, and say each one, and understand it. Play games from previous
lessons. Find the pictures for ship fish
dish brush shop in Step 40.
Write a joined sh on
scrap paper, in large letters with a yellow felt pen or highlight, and let the
pupil go over them, to get the feel of how you join the letters. Draw the
letters separately, then add the joining bit in a different colour, to show the
extra line. If you wish, he can go over the words in the list, in felt pen.
