Step 93: The long sound of u.
The pupil has already
learned the first two ways of spelling the long sound of u, as in valUE, cUbE,
using ue and u.e (magic e). The third column of words is similar, that ANY
vowel two letters after a u can make the u say its name. The 4th column is UI,
with only about half a dozen words, and finally EW. To remember blew from blue,
make the connection with the W (OW, EW), that blow and blew go together, also
grow, grew; throw, threw (not through).
