Step 99: ie     ie usually says the long I sound: pie, tie, cried. It can say ee, in

field                   chief, thief            priest

yield                   grief, grieve           piece (Say a piece of pie)

shield           relief, relieve; belief, believe; thief, thieve

There is a rule, "i before e except after c” but there are as many exceptions as regular

words. ceiling, receive, deceive, conceit, receipt; but their, leisure, seize, neither, foreign,

and a few more. EI sometimes says AY: vein veil reign eight weight weigh neigh sleigh

neighbour reindeer. Note EIR in THEIR.
